Kansas Cement Giant Goes Solar, Plants 500k Trees Worth of Clean Energy!

The Monarch Cement Company is making waves with the completion of a massive 97-acre solar array. Built with Evergy Energy Solutions, this farm has a capacity of 20 megawatts DC and can produce approximately 35 million kilowatt hours annually. That's enough renewable electricity to potentially meet up to one-third of the cement plant's energy needs. The project boasts the environmental benefit of planting 500,000 trees and includes pollinator-friendly plants to boost carbon capture, creating a carbon-free renewable energy site. It's Evergy's largest solar project to date and notably quiet.
